BAND BOOSTERS PROMOTE SEARCH ENGINE FUND RAISER
The Flushing Band and Orchestra Boosters have launched a search engine fund raiser in conjunction with the website Prodege, powered by the on-line company Google. To activate a no-obligation donation, supporters can visit http://orchestraboosters.prodege.com to begin an Internet search. With each hyper-link visited, a donation is made to The Flushing Band and Orchestra Boosters.
The Flushing Band and Orchestra Boosters is an incorporated 501 (c)(3) organization. The group builds and maintains an organization which helps promote the general activities of the school district's instrumental music program through moral and financial support.

MARCHING BAND QUALIFIES FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION
The Flushing Raider Marching Band will compete in the State Championship after receiving their final qualifying scores on Saturday, October 31st. The band qualified by earning a score of 79.8 at the Huron Valley Invitational Tournament.
The Raider Marching Band qualified for the state championship tournament with a combined score of 79.10 out of a possible 100 points from their two highest scoring competitions. As a result of the scores, the band earned a ranking of 6th in the State of Michigan. The band competes in the Flight II classification of the Michigan Competitive Bands Association.
The Raider Marching Band will compete on Saturday, November 7th for the State Championships which will be held at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The top ten bands in each of the four flights earn the distinction and honor to compete in the final event of the season.

BAND BOOSTERS CONTINUE PAPER DRIVE
The Flushing Band and Orchestra Boosters are accepting clean and bundled newspapers as part of an on-going fundraiser. The papers can be dropped off 24 hours a day in the designated bins at the employee parking lot across from the Flushing School District's Warehouse. The lot is located at 4335 North Seymour Road in Flushing Township.

HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE BANDS TO HOLD FALL CONCERT
The Flushing High School and Middle School bands will hold their first concert of the 2009-2010 academic year on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. The annual Fall Concert will take place in the William Tunnicliff Auditorium of Flushing High School, located at 5039 Deland Road in Flushing. The concert begins at 7:00 PM and is free to the public.
Four individual student groups will perform at this event. The High School Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, comprised of 9th through 12th grade students, the Middle School Concert Band, comprised of 8th grade students, and the Middle School Cadet Band, comprised of 7th grad students.
The High School Wind Ensemble and Concert Band are under the direction of Mrs. Laura Molnar. The Middle School Concert and Cadet Bands are under the direction of Mr. Eric Fontan.

STUDENT ORCHESTRA GROUPS TO HOLD HALLOWEEN CONCERT
The Flushing High School and Middle School string orchestras will hold their annual Halloween 'De-Composer's Concert" on Monday, October 26, 2009 starting at 7:00PM. The concert will be held in the William Tunnicliff Auditorium of Flushing High School, located at 5039 Deland Road in Flushing. The event is free and open to the public.
The audience will be treated to Halloween seasonal music, costumes, and skits performed by the student musicians. Treats will also be available and the public is invited to dress in their favorite Halloween costumes. The High School and Middle School orchestras are under the direction of Mr. Matthew Forsleff.

MARCHING BAND HONORS TOP PERFORMERS
The Flushing Raider Marching Band recognizes individual student performance and effort at their annual banquet held on November 20th at the Flushing Middle School. The dinner and award presentation was attended by over 200 students, staff and family members. The award winners were selected by a vote of the band members and chosen by the directors. The recipients of the student-voted awards were:
Outstanding Freshmen - Madeline Hundley and Ethan Guerra
Outstanding Sophomores - Audrey Mull and Joseph Kitchin
Outstanding Juniors - Katherine Sobolak and Travis Catlin
Outstanding Senors - Lana Spomer and Amit Iyengar

In addition to the student awards, the directors recognized three students for their great individual efforts. Alyssa Parsons and Nathan Wilson were awarded the Barbara J. Yott Memorial Award for superior contribution and attitude. Stephen Simmons received the Outstanding Section Leader award fro his leadership and dedication to the low brass section.
The Flushing Raider Marching Band is under the leadership of Mrs. Laura Molnar, Director of Bands, and Mr. Eric Fontan, Assistant Director of Bands.
